Back on April 29th of 2015 I took my first steps on the Appalachian Trail, leaving Harpers Ferry with the plan of doing a flip flop* thru hike* of the trail.
After three days in, many blisters, and miles to think changes were made and I decided if I could make it to Maine I would be happy (and after that I would think about heading south), So it all became about Walking to Maine.
When people asked me what I was doing I would say 'only walking to Maine' which leads to responses of 'is that all?' and 'REALLY?!?' sometimes both from the same person.
In 2017 the answer will be WALKING TO GEORGIA.
In 2016 I wanted to answer "what are you doing?" with "I am walking to Georgia". That means there are just over 1000 miles to cover to head south to Springer Mountain. But unfortunately part two of this adventure has been pushed off until Fall of 2017 as I needed 9 months to heal from a few of the injuries I gained on the Trail.
Hiking is one of the cheaper ways to take an adventure but even so expenses build up.
The thing I would do whenever the day got me down as I was hiking or when I wasn't certain I could put one foot in front of the other was to find something beautiful and capture it as best I could. I did offer 2016 calendars but don't think I am doing a 2017 version. Thinking about other ways to offer the glimpses of beauty I was so lucky to find. If you have suggestions on how to do this please message me.
